GENERAL WORKERS/LABOURERS

PARKS & RECREATION; WATER & SEWERAGE; CLEANSING/ROADS & STORMWATER; BUILDINGS & STRUCTURE; BULK SEWER; ELECTRICITY

Salary: R47 820.00 p.a. plus Non-pensionable allowance of R 1 080.00 p.a.

Key Performance Areas:*Ensure a clean, tidy and healthy working environment. *Provide cleansing duties and to remove refuse i.e. black bags, business, garbage bins, open spaces and dead animals and load on the refuse truck to transport to the dumping site as well as public dustbins *Provide manual labour related to sporting grounds services e.g. prune trees, saw branches, mow lawns, plant grass and water trees *Clean dry beds at the sewerage purification site *Excavate existing ground material to expose burst pipe to find nearest coupling on pipe *Execute physical labour i.e. digging trenches, hoeing, cleaning work areas, moving of materials, loading and off-loading of materials using compressor, jack hammer, compactor, cutting machine and garden tools to assist in construction and maintenance work *Responsible to replace and maintain road signs and to execute paint works i.e. road marks and to clean the traffic grounds and offices *Clean pumpstation sumps; Assist with removal of pumps and other mechanical equipment * Cleaning of maturation ponds and other channels and all other waste water treatment maintenance related duties.Cleaning of swimmingpools, filters and all other swimmingpool maintenance related duties. Repair fences and installations of resisting fences. General cleaning at landfill sites and transfere stations. Washing and cleaning of floors, walls and windows equipment and vehicles. Assist the process controllers when needed.

Requirements depending on job context will be from : *Basic Reading and Writing Skills *Good interpersonal and communication skills *Be able to work independently *Afrikaans / English / Xhosa speaking *Good cleaning skills *Must be extremely physically fit *Pick up loads of ±30 kg *Work in very wet, cold or hot weather *Must be able to function effectively in difficult working conditions / circumstances / environment such as dusty & smelly environment *No fear of heights * Must be prepared to work overtime as and when required *Must be of sober habits *Exposure to lime and cement dust *Exposure to hazardous health conditions *Assist other sections as needed *No fear of heights* confine spaces *Prepare to work with raw sewerage *Assist with the maintenance of sewerage works equipment and pumpstations.
